Mountain View Lutheran Church
welcomes Associate Pastor Briana Merkle
Mountain View Lutheran Church (MVLC) of Edgewood, Washington is pleased to announce the arrival of its new Associate Pastor Briana Merkle. Pastor Merkle will preach and preside at MVLC worship services (8:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.) for the first time on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Pastor Merkle, a graduate of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, is transferring from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Brenham, Texas, where her ministry focused on youth and family ministries for the past three years. Pastor Briana is married to Pastor Kyle Merkle, who is also departing a congregation (St. John’s Lutheran) located in Brenham, Texas.
Pastor Merkle says, “I am eager to get to know more about the ministries at Mountain View, and most especially to learn more about the vision and impact of Rock Ministry,” which is Mountain View Lutheran’s program of education and lifelong faith formation for kids and youth from infancy through high school.
Pastor Merkle also states, “Moving to the Pacific Northwest will be a homecoming for me. I spent the first twenty-three years of my life in Washington, having grown up in the Puyallup area. And my heart has always belonged to the Northwest. Kyle and I are excited to begin putting in long-term roots, having spent the last seven years on the move.”
Pastor Merkle joins Senior Pastor John Vaswig as part of the clergy team that leads worship and life together at Mountain View Lutheran Church. Pastor Vaswig recently celebrated twenty years of ministry at MVLC.
A service of installation for Pastor Merkle will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at MVLC.
Mountain View Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has served the people and communities of North Hill, Puyallup, and Pierce County since 1904.
