The Holy Spirit and the Lessons of the Cross

On Sunday, January 14 (with a week off for the Benevolence and Ministry Fair on 1/21), Pastor Vaswig teaches the first class of a three-week series (1/14, 1/28, 2/4) on “The Holy Spirit and the Lessons of the Cross.” Often in “American spirituality,” there is a triumphalistic view of the Holy Spirit—“spirit filled,” if you will. During the class, he will be teaching a biblical perspective of the Holy Spirit as community builder. Indeed the work of the Holy Spirit is to foster life together in Christian relationship, a far less individualistic view than is often presented. Come join us as we look at various biblical texts, including a thorough examination of 1 Corinthians 12–14, where Spirit-gifts are given for the sake of the church and the wider world.
