All Saints Youth Worship

Sunday, November 3, 2019 • 6:00 p.m.

Mountain View Lutheran Church
3505 – 122nd Ave E, Edgewood WA 98372

Middle school, junior high, and high school youth are invited to this ecumenical youth worship to remember our family and friends who have died by suicide and to hear the Gospel’s message of hope and belonging alongside our grief.

You Can Help

Currently the Mountain View Community Center is providing around 190 weekend PowerPacks to students in both the Fife and Puyallup School districts. (That is about 1,700 food items a week!)

New in 2019, we have established a Food Pantry in E.B. Walker High School and are starting a Crock Pot program with 23 families in the Fife/Milton/Edgewood ECEAP program. We will provide each of these families with a crock pot and weekly ingredients to make a hearty soup. Look for more information about the crock pot program in the April newsletter and how you can help support this exciting new program.

Right now we are very low on some essentials for the PowerPacks. please consider purchasing some of these items and dropping them off in the bin outside of the Sanctuary or at the Community Center.

• “Kid-friendly” microwavable or “pop top” cans of soup.
• Peanut butter or cheese crackers.
• Granola bars.
• Individual packets of oatmeal.

Thank you for all that you do to support the Mountain View Community Center.

Youth Leadership Team

Since January 2017, a youth leadership team has met each month to plan events and grow as disciples of Christ.

This team is made up entirely of high school youth. Learning leadership skills together and engaging in fellowship, service, and education, these kids have strengthened each other in their faith. Together, their faith has become more active and the future of the church is bolstered as these high school youth find out more about what it means to be Christ-followers in all areas of their lives.

November Ninja Night

On Sunday, 19 November, the first “full fledged” MVLC “Middle Rock” (6, 7, 8, and 9 graders) middle school/junior high fellowship event of the 2017–2018 school year took place in the Education Building and Life Together Hall.

The evening was filled with the five “F”s of Middle Rock fellowship events—friends, fellowship, food, faith, and fun. It started with a dinner of noodle bowls and “ninja desserts,” followed by various “ninja games”—Ninja Battle, Samurai, 90-Second Ninja Dance Off, and, of course, Ninja.

The 12 Apostles of Pizza Night

On Saturday, September 23, the first MVLC high school fellowship event of the 2017–2018 school year took place in the home of members.

The next morning, photographs of twelve youth holding their homemade pizza masterpieces showed up in the email inbox of the MVLC Communication Director, who assumed these must be images/icons of the 12 Apostles of Pizza Night, so he posted them to the MVLC Flickr page.

Pizza Night was a time of fellowship, prayer, make-your-own pizza making contest, eating of said pizza, and the “wacky topping” pizza contest. The latter event saw the creative use of items such as BBQ sauce, Oreo cookies, and ghost peppers. The ghost pepper pizza sent one of the tasting judges into a holy fervor and out of the task of judging.

All in all, the night was a great time and fun was had by all!
