We are pleased to share with you that we had a dozen youth participate in conversation at MOD Pizza on Sunday the ninth, giving input and helping to shape the future of MVLC’s Youth Council.
Youth interested in serving on the Council are asked to submit a 150–350-word statement by August 30 either in writing or via email describing:
- Their leadership strengths and gifts.
- Their teamwork style and personality.
- What they hope to learn and how they hope to grow through participation.
Applications will be reviewed by Pastor Andrew and Deborah, and submissions will remain confidential.
MAIN GOALS of the YOUTH COUNCIL
The Youth Council will work alongside the Associate Pastor and Rock Ministry Administrator to:
- Create and help oversee a designated youth space in the sanctuary.
- Provide feedback on past and future CYF programming.
- Plan mission and service opportunities.
- Advise church leadership on issues affecting the youth community.
- Support evangelism efforts.
- Increase youth participation in worship through leadership, planning, music, and preaching opportunities.
PROPOSED STRUCTURE
The youth participants recommended that:
- Representation be balanced between middle school and high school students, with at least two from each group plus a president/moderator.
- Members serve one-year terms with staggered transitions.
- Elections and installations occur every six months.
- Representatives gather feedback from their peers.
- A confidential suggestion box be created in the youth space.
- Meetings occur twice monthly, one online and one in person.
We are excited for this new phase of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry at MVLC and are delighted to have your families at the center.
